A Green Flag and Green Heritage Site status for Pittville Park

Green FlagFriends of Pittville played a major role in supporting Cheltenham Borough Council’s successful application for Green Flag status and Green Heritage Site accreditation for Pittville Park, awarded yesterday in a ceremony at the Pump Room.

Pittville is the only park in Gloucestershire to be awarded the prestigious Green Heritage Site accreditation, which is given to sites of historic importance. The park’s application was judged against a list of key criteria:

Green Heritage site award

  • understanding the heritage value of the site
  • acknowledging the heritage value of the site
  • sharing the heritage value of the site
  • conserving, enhancing and helping people enjoy the heritage value of the site.

The judges were particular impressed with Friends of Pittville and the research they had undertaken into Pittville’s history.

Congratulations to everyone involved in achieving the award.
